Location Map Viewer

Keep track of exactly where your bot is in Second Life, and who is hanging around nearby, all from your MoonBots dashboard.

What Is the Location Map Viewer?

The Location Map Viewer is a feature in your MoonBots dashboard that shows you a live map of your bot's current location inside Second Life. Instead of guessing where your bot has wandered off to, you can open the viewer and see its exact spot marked on a map of the region, along with a list of any avatars nearby.

You will find the Location Map Viewer link under the Management section of your MoonBots dashboard.

How to Open It

  1. Log in to your MoonBots dashboard.
  2. Look under the Management column on the left side.
  3. Click Location Map Viewer.
  4. A map window pops up showing your bot's region and its current position.

What You Will See

The map window gives you a snapshot of your bot's surroundings, including:

  1. A region map with a marker showing exactly where your bot is standing.
  2. A list of nearby usernames, meaning any avatars currently close to your bot.
  3. A Map SLURL link for each nearby avatar, so you can jump straight to that location in Second Life if you click it.
  4. The distance, in meters, between your bot and each nearby avatar.

Why This Feature Is Useful

  1. Peace of mind: confirm at a glance that your bot is where it is supposed to be, especially after a restar or teleport.
  2. See who is around: knowing which avatars are nearby helps you understand the social activity happening around your bot.
  3. No need to log in to Second Life yourself: you can check on your bot's location straight from the dashboard, without opening the viewer client.
  4. Quick navigation: the Map SLURL links let you or a bot manager teleport directly to that exact spot if you need to check in personally.

Use Cases

Here are a few real-world ways MoonBots users rely on the Location Map Viewer:

  1. Checking whether a baby bot has made it back home safely after a playdate or a day at school.
  2. Verifying a bot landed in the correct spot after using Teleport Options or after a Restart Bot action.
  3. Keeping an eye on nearby avatars during events, so an event organizer or bot manager can see who is interacting with the bot.
  4. Troubleshooting a bot that seems unresponsive by confirming whether it is actually online and present in the expected region.
  5. Helping a bot manager who is not currently logged into Second Life still keep tabs on bot activity from the dashboard.
