Not Receiving MoonBots Verification In-World

This guide walks through the most common reasons a verification message does not arrive in Second Life when you are trying to create a MoonBots account, and how to fix each one.

The Problem

You have started creating a MoonBots account, but the verification message never shows up in-world. Without it, you cannot finish setting up your account.

Most Common Cause

In almost every case, this happens because of an in-world instant message (IM) setting on your Second Life account. If your viewer is set to only receive IMs from Friends, or if your account is set to Do Not Disturb, the verification message from the MoonBots system avatar is blocked before it ever reaches you.

Quick Fixes

1. Check Your Do Not Disturb Status

Do Not Disturb mode silently blocks incoming IMs, including system messages like the MoonBots verification. Here is how to turn it off:

  1. Look at the bottom toolbar of your viewer (Firestorm or your viewer of choice).
  2. Find the Do Not Disturb toggle, usually near your avatar name or in the status menu.
  3. If it is enabled, click it to turn it off.
  4. Try the MoonBots verification step again.

2. Check Your IM Privacy Settings

If your viewer is set to only accept IMs from people on your Friends list, the MoonBots system avatar will not be able to message you since it is not your friend.

  1. Open Preferences from the top menu.
  2. Go to the Privacy tab.
  3. Look for a setting like “Only friends and groups can call or IM me.”
  4. Uncheck this setting, or add the MoonBots system avatar as a friend if you prefer to keep it checked.
  5. Try the MoonBots verification step again.

Other Things to Check

  1. Make sure you are logged in to the same Second Life account and avatar you used to start the MoonBots signup.
  2. Check that your viewer is fully logged in and connected before requesting verification again. A partial or slow login can delay IM delivery.
  3. Open your Communication or Conversations window and check for a missed IM tab. Sometimes the message arrives, but the notification is easy to miss.

Tip

If you are not sure whether Do Not Disturb or your privacy settings caused the issue, it is safe to check both. Neither setting will affect your ability to receive the verification message once turned off or adjusted.

  1. Your Second Life avatar name
  2. The viewer you are using (for example, Firestorm) and its version number
